Bio

Andrew Strickland, MHS, LAT, ATC, PES, is the athletic trainer for Claxton High School, provided by Optim Sports Medicine. At Claxton, Andrew is responsible for overseeing the care of student athletes. His duties include evaluation of illness/injuries, referral of athletes to physicians, and oversight of athletic rehabilitation. Andrew also works closely with coaches to ensure proper training and conditioning is conducted to reduce the incidence of injuries within the athletic program. Coming to Claxton in 2016, Andrew is in his third year as athletic trainer for the Tigers. He has previously served as athletic trainer at Tattnall County High School (2012-2016) and Appling County High School (2011-2012). While at Appling County the football team advanced to the final four, while the baseball team won the 2012 Georgia AA State Championship. That state championship team featured the Minnesota Twins current center fielder, Byron Buxton. Andrew has a Master of Health Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences and received his Bachelor of Kinesiology degree in Athletic Training from Georgia Southern University. He is married to Brooke, and they have a daughter (Kinsey) and son (Brantley). As lifelong residents of Evans County, they currently live in Hagan. They are both proud members of Eastside Baptist Church in Claxton.
